It has a lot to do with your source material and your hardware. Im using a budget TCL HDR tv, yet the colors I can see using HDR on this tv make this thing look like it should cost 3000 dollars. Also I noticed playing Borderlands 2 that HDR is an absolute game changer. The colors are SO vibrant, that fire actually looks real and the lighting tricks your mind to think its actually that time of day. Lets not even get into other games like Skyrim. Just know that HDR requires a healthy knowledge of the tech behind it so that it can be used correctly. This tech is in infancy. When I play Borderlands 2 in HDR, even though I KNOW its HDR because thats what I see, my tv actually doesnt show it as hdr mode. There are different types of HDR. In fact, HDR is still partially broken on Windows 10. Its easy enough to get it working, but its a big pain in the ass in its current state. Im still experimenting with it myself, with chroma sampling and different bit rates. I wish it were easy to make ANY material HDR, but unfortunately, thats not happening right now. At least not very soon. MOST games will go into HDR, but not all of them, and only SOME video formats I have been able to get working. You will be able to tell when something is in HDR because the colors will blow you away immediately. It's almost as different as going from black and white to color tv. WHEN HDR WORKS, the whole entire atmosphere changes and you almost forget where you are because you get so absorbed into the scene.

Ok but Samsung announced a MicroLED TV back at CES 2018 but I guess you’re pumped because it’s a MiniLED monitor?

I need that first monitor. I'm playing on a 900p 18in. that has no HDMI so I have to use rcas, 3.5 mm jack and speakers to get audio.

No Linus. If each pixel can not be turned off then it's not true hdr in my opinion. I would rather have oled. That's still a nice monitor thou.

Why is this channel so heavily advertised. Ive been fairly new here but this is insane. 5 sec Ad intro, with an 1 minute ad outro in a 5min video wtf.

6m subs, you are probably rich as fuk, theres no need to rely so heavily on ads especially if you get your shit sponsored anyways.

would love an a higher than 1440p density super-ultra-wide monitor (using dual cables to achieve doesn't bother me)
but it's about time HDR catches up
    though Q-dot still sucks 😛
    MLED FTW
I mean, if they were using Q-dot per blue LED to basically achieve a fake MLED (3 blue LEDs per sub-pixel), I'd be okay with that
though I think modern bright red and green LEDs use less power…
if I'm wrong though, green may use the most power, and the Q-dot MLED approach may actually be more cost effective.
